You have a way to get back to her here. You will not allow her close to the grandparants. Also let them rethink this relationship with you. Also the mil will get rejected from Jess's side. Once Jess and partner set boundries, mil will not be anyway near Jess's baby too. She will really wonder if this was a good move.

Hubby should of spoken up & left. traditionally men arent invited to baby showers let alone when its an ex from 4 years ago & he is married with a baby on the way. I would be asking for paternity test to prove he isnt Jess baby dad. I wouldn't be going out of my way to be spending a second of my time with his family going forward. They can put in the legwork to try to make amends for their part in that mess.

This is reactive abuse, MIL actions pushed her DIL to act out of character, and then MIL wants to play victim. When in reality DIL was lied to, gaslighted, and then made to feel like the bad guy for not going through the abusive situation and “SHOW GRACE”! DIL needs to stay far away from these people, or set major boundaries and have a serious conversation with her husband about him not supporting HER, and being a united front with said boundaries.

She should go no contact with MIL, that means she doesn’t go near your child ever. Husband gets a stern talk and I possibly see divorce down the line as husband is going to go along with his mother on everything.
