healing is described as making atoms move faster than normal to regenerate the body...if they move to fast it can rip them apart painfully. meaning the healer can tOrtur3 the victims

healing magic, theoretically, is the reversal of damage through manipulation of time. depending on the heal intensity, you're either moving time forward to accelerate natural recovery of the body OR reversing time to undo the damage done

wrong way to use healing magic actually shows this, rose and Usato spam it so much, especially during training to the point they don't feel pain unless its something that would tear a normal human in half, it also makes them super strong because they heal their muscles as they push them beyond human limits

A clericish lich forever altered by the healing magic inside of their body controlling hordes of still physical alive ex partymembers that have lost all sensation to pain and constant healing have given them slight regeneration and an addiction to the magic leading the members to follow the cleric blindly and as a cleric the have lost themselves only fighting to bring more under their spell and gain a following for their god bigger and stronger than any before at the cost of the entire world around them

dont forget the possibility of healing too much, you could genuinely give them cancer, make them produce too many blood cells accidently shrink or expand their organs because they were slightly deformed at birth, overhealing is just as scary

What if healing is just control over life energy, so a healer could just take the energy of their opponent and use it to heal their ally

Hear me out, they literally discussed the ramifications of this in steven universe and future ie the first time steven ever goes to the hospital and connie's mom is evaluating all of the equations injuries that simultaneously happened and healed, and how his cortisol levels are shooting up through the roof for situations that shouldn't be stressful because he's been used to having life threatening situations all his life so his body doesn't know how to react to normal situations

I remember seeing a story where the party was trying to get away from their Cleric who was obsessed with keeping the party alive and going to the point that they wanted nothing to do with her but couldn’t leave or ☠️because she wouldn’t let them

This is why I flavor anytime my character goes down and gets picked back up, whatever way he was put down he gets a new scar.

I always use the concept that the pain doesn't fade you still feel the pain over time it fades but no healing magic says it stops the pain

I think it would be funny to play a character that just gets beat on for 99% of the campaign and slowly get more traumatised because they still lived through it 😭😭😭

wooooo wooo hold up! none of the healing spells state they mend wounds, besides mend wounds! so by rules of the books yoy don't regenerate injuries... it why it is suggested long rests are a week plus.

wouldn't healing magic require some life force left in the patient? necromancy is dead beings is it not? and how would the life force be regenerated if barely there?

I read a story once about a priest that just keeps everyone alive even though they are old now but she's a fanatic that heals everything and pushes them back into the battlefield
