Reviewed some code today from a junior dev. Tiny change, just 4 lines. Added plenty of unit tests too. But then I looked closer… the unit tests weren’t testing any of the source code, just local functions defined in the test file itself 😬. Oh course, this was written by AI and the developer assumed AI nailed it. So, that’s where we actually are in 2025

first time trying to build a simple website with Cloude+Codium+Git, really painful how many times to repeat, refine, test & restore from Git, after 2 months and on the edge of staging, not sure if ever will reach production, seriously thinking to learn full dev to do a clean work

Not that this example is anywhere close to accurate, but if you’re a software engineer today, get familiar with all the ways that AI is breaking code because companies will need someone who really understands where these errors are being introduced
