I spent 14 months in a homeless shelter when I first moved to Pittsburgh. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today. They treated you with respect and they also did wonderful things for residents. We would get Pirates tickets donated, we would go away for a week to camp where we swam and went fishing and enjoyed nature. They helped me get my initial EMT certification, I met my ex wife while I was there(she was not) and through that journey I now have my own house, a good job, a family and a wonderful gf that co.pletes me. Sometimes people.need a hand up, not always a hand out. You never really understand unless you've been through it yourself

as someone who is jobless at the moment, there are some days that you just don't focus on finding a job. you enjoy the day, take a break, draw, color, spend time outside. spending all day everyday trying to find a job is insanely mentally taxing

Not once while watching this did I wonder why she didn't look for work or go to a job. all I could think was "what a decent little spot to transition to the next place in life" I'm over here glad some homeless shelters are actually decent
