i honestly really hate when people sexualize silent hill characters or anything, its so demeaning to the whole game. such a great game with such good depth. wish i could replay it for the first time (amazing edit btw:3)

The thing is, in silent hill 2 it’s a very complex story and character. What he did was terrible, he killed his wife. But he did this out of mercy and confusion and frustration of how he was treated. He later on as we all would face immense mental torment. Immense guilt over his actions and his unresolved grief and it is morally wrong what he did. In silent hill James isn’t a simplicity villain, as some are more clear on who the villain is. The thing is James isn’t evil, he’s human and he’s a deeply broken one. What separates him from traditional villains is that he is ridden by guilt and the entire game is a metaphor for his self-loathing. Does it make his crime go away? No. But silent hill 2 James Sunderland isn’t a simple villain alike other characters you see. A bad man who isn’t evil a man destroyed by his own failure and grief.

james isn't a bad person he only killed Mary because she was going to die anyway and was going through immense pain. plus she wanted to die even if he was a bad person I still would think he redeemed himself with his agonizing journey in silent hill especially since he litteraly offs himself for what he did in one of fhe endings sure what he did was wrong but I think most people would do the same in his position.

I get it so much, we all love James, but some of y’all forgetting he is the bad guy. Even when he says he wants Mary back, he doesnt fully mean that. He wants “his Mary” back, the person she was before she got sick, before he lost his life to taking care of an ill wife. He didn’t kill his Mary, his Mary died the second she became sick. (Just a personal theory)

I love how games like these make me understand decisions characters take or the words that say, even violent, considering both perspectives based on their emotions, instead of being blindly angry and hating em, I see that there is no right and wrong, there are pure emotions
