That poor father. I know it was a different time but if I was in charge of someone else’s kid I’d never leave their side. If he ran ahead, I’d be running alongside him. Especially in the woods.

Why don’t they test the clothes etc for mountain lion dna etc. Just because specialists “think” that the lion should have gone for his stomach is silly, the lion will start where ever it wants. And it’s a cat, cats are smart and nimble, if it gets it’s teeth or claws on the top area of his pants it can easily pull them down pulling them inside out in the process. It’s EXTREMELY likely that he was attacked by a mountain lion as he was a very small child all by himself. The lion knew to take the body far far away from where humans are so that the lion doesn’t get found with it. The way the body and clothes were discarded does not line up with how a human discards a person. The lion can easily carry a small child like that in its mouth up in the air to its location without “dragging” the child.

sad part is in the woods if a cougar got him it could have treed him since he was small and that's why no one found him at first. finding him later means his body fell out of the tree

A lot of mountain lions/cougars will drag their kills up trees so that other lions wont try to take. Its horrifying but the most likely scenario is that it was a mountain lion..

Why would let your child go with a bunch of church strangers that anything could happen to him? But it did. What if he wasn’t kidnapped? What if some one or people in the group did something to him that he was with. I read somewhere they were going to go the original route to go hiking or whatever their plans were but instead for some reason took a different path that’s how he disappeared or he could of vanished early into the hike, who knows what really happened that day. I just always wondered why those people he was supposedly with weren’t questioned even further. I think they know what happen to him and who were involved. They just came up with a story that he ran ahead and when they went to look for him he was gone to cover up something. They all should have been suspects, sinse he was the last one he was seen going with.

I wouldn’t have blamed the dad if he never forgave the people who were “watching” his kid. Ik it was different back then, but I feel like it’s common knowledge to not let kids out of your eyesight because they like to run off… ugh, poor dad 💔
