Y’all don’t understand Jonathan one bit do you ?? Jonathan took care of his brother and mother since he was a kid , constantly stood by Will’s side no matter what , dealt with an abusive father , planned his brother’s funeral at 16 , always acted as a shield, fought monsters , helped barbs family get closure , drove for days to save el , literally saved Nancy’s life twice …. But yeah because steve is more funny he is the better man also Jonathan never called anyone a queer as an insult by the way . I love Steve but y’all act like he is a god or something and Nancy is him prize

yea because it was steves little brother who was abducted and lost in an alternate dimension and then possessed by an eldritch entity. JONATHAN TOOK WHAT LITTLE REPRIEVE HE COULD GET. of course avoiding your problems doesnt help anything, but they werent in hawkins anymore, and he finally didnt have to be “the man” of the household to help make ends meet.

steve and nancy getting together completely ignores how much they’ve grown as individuals. nancy outgrew the version of herself that wanted a perfect reputation and a popular bf. she grew to be independent and follow her own path instead of using her parents as a representative. steve finally matured and learnt to be himself and doesnt need to gain the approval of others. putting them together again disregards everything that was built up about their characters. having them as friends is honestly a beautiful narrative as it shows that they can move on from their pasts but still care for each other
