Sylvia Plath saw the tree, and she focused on its limitations; you saw an abundance. This perspective is so powerful and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. We do have another option; we are the tree from which all those figs are coming. This gives me so much hope and encourages me to take action toward my dreams as well.

love the optimistic twist you put on this very tragic story! another metaphor that stuck to me in the bell jar is the one about the days being boxes except that now all she sees is one long box that stretches forever… she truly conveyed emotions so well

I had this idea before watching this video that what if you could choose more than one fig and you could choose to nurture it, I mean the one you choose might just have rotted half way through. But you explained it so much better. Love your outlook and how you described us as the tree instead of Sylvia Plath, makes so much more sense than the typical interpretation I hear from EVRRYONE

If you truly want to suffer whilst reading the fig tree analogy, listen to “poison tree”. You’ll reach the stars of pure depression lol

Sylvia Plath will forever be one of my favorite writers. I read The Bell Jar, and a book of poetry of hers, and I just felt understood. I understand the struggle, and fear, and anger, and passion, and curiosity, and love, and confusion. Beautiful writing. 💛

Bro doesn't know it but this came at the right timing. It makes perfect sense in all sense there is. I'm also stuck sitting in the crotch of my fig tree, starving to death. And yes, I'll start seeing myself as the fig tree from now on. Thank you

Plath's analogy, while brilliant, came from a place of unwellness. Yours is the healthy, inspiring perspective she so desperately needed to get in touch with to process her struggles. This is beautiful.

that first fig you pick, whichever it may be, will nourish you, as will the next fig you pick, and the nourishment from those figs will keep nourishing more figs to grow
