CamFN :
Perfect conclusion. “We are not horses…we are human…and humans are…” he intentionally leaves the statement vague, not because he couldn’t figure out what to say before his final moments, but rather to leave us with a question. What are humans? After all of the blood, after all of the greed, after everything, what are we? What is humanity? What does humanity refer to? The people that ran these games are human likewise to those who participated in these gruesome games. Humanity is a term often used in light of compassion, and kindness, but are all of the atrocities not part from human nature as well? Gi-Hun might’ve not had an answer for what we are. Hes seen the good, the bad, the kind, the evil, the sacrifices, and the inherent acts of selfishness and greed. Shortly after, Gi-hun then proceeds to fall and sacrifice himself, not only rejecting the game itself, but rejecting the philosophy written behind it. The front man believed that human are inherently selfish and would do whatever it takes when faced with death and greed. Year after year of watching people draw blood, turn on others, and seeing what greed and being faced to death, etc, he understood that there is no longer faith in humanity and that mankind is no better than the horses we bet on that race for the entertainment of others. Gi-Hun showed that there is still faith in humanity by keeping his promises, staying true to his morals, and never let greed win even if it meant sacrificing himself and dying for it. In the end, we can inference that the squid games takes place globally, as it is shown in America. The ending isn’t for a setup to milk the series and to make a sequel off of this one, but rather to show that the philosophy thats behind the games isn’t meant to be broken Greed corruption, and being faced to death is in our human nature We are the problem. This show is way ahead of its timing I dont think im ever gonna be able to encounter another cinematic masterpiece like The squid games ever again - cam
