@builderbrigade: 🛑 Don’t Build a House without seeing my Checklist…
Get it at BuilderBrigade.com
It’s pretty common to see wasted square footage like this on a new build. Nothing against the builder. They have a system that allows them to build quickly.
I just like for the homeowner to know about this because it might just be worth a conversation if they see a situation where they can make this dead space functional.
Thoughts on this? Would you try really hard to utilize every square inch?

I'll never understand the designer/architect building dead spaces in from the start.

If the new homeowner knows a good handyman, they can make a cool secret storage area after the build is dome

We turned a huge headspace next to, under and around the staircase in our old house into a massive storage space. I'm obsessed with cubbies

What’s up with all those janky studs? Seriously one of them has a bend in it. What happened to quality builders?

"Dead Space" is sometimes designed for a hidden safe, but is not in the plans. A dead give away is to look at the wiring and plumbing around the dead space. The dead space will have an entire wall that is inside a room and has no wiring or plumbing on it so someone after the purchase can easily add a hidden storage area.

a lot of time the space is left for the reason of cutting down sounds from room to room

this is when you ask the builder for the plans... and in the future go through and either open it up, or make fun hidden areas
