i haven’t read losurdo’s yet, but one of my first marxist reads was ludo martens’ “another view of stalin” and i think that single-handedly pushed me towards a ML point of view, i definitely recommend it as well

yeah i read it, and found it nothing more than a pure hagiography. i remember when losurdo agrees with Stalin, citing "the british can have socialism under a monarchy" or one could "achieve socialism without a dotp"

That's an amazing book, my second favorite is "Generalisimus" by Vladimir Karpov, its a big book, but every single chapter, even the shortest, are full with documents from the era, so insightful and well written
