My mom has always been that proverbial carrot on a stick for me — showing me what life looks like 22 years down the road. She’s been active her entire life, but she didn’t have the strength she truly needed to stay mobile, confident, and independent as she got older. Two years ago, I got her started with weightlifting. Nothing extreme. Just intentional strength work. And at 85, she is stronger, more stable, and more fearless than I’ve ever seen her. She’s also had two knee replacements in the last two years, and the difference muscle made in her recovery was unbelievable. Her balance improved. Her mobility improved. Her confidence improved. And her healing was faster because her body had something to work with. This is the part people don’t talk about enough: Strength training isn’t about looking a certain way. It’s about being able to get up, move freely, travel, recover from surgeries, live independently, and stay you as the years pass. My mom is living proof that it’s never too late to start building strength. And if you’re in your 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond — it’s not too late for you either. Muscle is metabolic. Muscle is protective. Muscle is longevity. And it’s one of the greatest gifts you can give your future self. 💛 Share with your Mom or anyone else who you think might benefit - again the beauty of strength training is that it is never too late. Just start. Pamela | My Dragonfly Odyssey #womenover50 #womenover60 #strengthtrainingforwomen #itsnevertoolate #agingwell
