@guideme_london: The most sought-after reservation in London has just opened in Shoreditch. Singburi has long been one of the most talked-about Thai restaurants in the city - known for bold flavours, a loyal following, and a near-impossible booking system. After years of hype, they’ve now relocated from Leyton to Shoreditch and switched to a more accessible booking system via OpenTable. I finally managed to visit, and while I couldn’t fault the food, I did leave feeling a little underwhelmed. The dishes were full of flavour and clearly well-executed, but they didn’t feel noticeably better than other great Thai restaurants in London. And the new space, while smart, lacked the intimate, family-run feel that made the original so beloved. Of course, it’s only been open a few weeks, so it could still be finding its rhythm. But based on this visit, I wasn’t entirely sure why it was once at the top of everyone’s must-visit list. Here’s what we had (all small sharing plates): • Wild Ginger Chicken Thigh • Grilled Lamb Shortrib with Chilli & Lime • Northern Raw Beef Larb • Stir-Fried Cabbage • Smoked Pork Nam Dtok • Tiger Prawn Southern Curry🌟 • Jasmine Rice Total: £87.75 (with 12.5% tip) If you’ve been curious about Singburi’s new location, it’s now much easier to book - but whether it lives up to the original hype will depend on what you’re hoping for.
