I’m a certified scuba diver.. trained with rescue. You have no idea how hard it is to locate the person, have the strength to swim to them - keep them afloat and yourself as well. He jumped without hesitation into beyond dangerous water - he found her, kept her above water and never once let go. That is unbelievable love and strength. Rumor says it’s his fault - which he will probably never ever forgive himself for - but he did what so many wouldn’t! Blame him - call him names - say what you must but he saved her, kept her above water, and got her back to safety.

The dad had the baby on the railing to take a picture. The baby fell in the water. He jumped in, and claimed to be a hero. HE PUT HER ON THE RAILING!!!!!!!!!!

When he jumped in after her he knew they would either be saved together or die together. Either way he wasn't leaving his little girl. 🥺

treading water while holding someone up while also trying to keep yourself afloat is extremely difficult, and dangerous. I hope people realize just how incredible this dad is, regardless of if it was his fault or not, he went out there despite the danger for his baby.

I saw a video where they said that the Disney Cruise are the only ones that have these very detailed man over board trainings and alarms and it immediately stops the forward motion of the boat and that these employees train for 800s or thousands of times. This makes you want to travel Disney instead of the other cruise lines safety first.

As a former DCL crew member, not enough people are doing or saying enough about the people on that rescue boat (the ones in the yellow jumpsuits at least). Crew members work 14-16 hour days, no days off, 6-10 months away from home. The people who operate those rescue boats are typically on the security or engineering team and are not paid well at all, they don't get paid for the status as a lifeboat or rescue operator either (unless things changed) and they have to do the training for that on top of their actual jobs. The training happens when in ports of call, aka the only time many of them may have free time to go off ship or call family. Those in these roles don't even have access to the ship beyond the crew areas either, usually going to work, then to the mess, then right back to their cabin. They are passionate and hardworking and care so much about the ship and the guests and get little recognition or pay, all that to say, I hope they are heavily rewarded for what they did.

Only about 10% of people who fall overboard, survive. This was a miracle for both of them! Disney responded SO fast!

Attack me if I’m wrong (I know y’all will) but I saw somewhere that the dad sat the daughter on a railing to get a picture and she fell off. So the kid didn’t exactly get herself in that situation.

If you ever see a person go overboard on a boat, point to them and don’t lose sight of them (keep finger on them). Yell “man overboard,” and don’t lose sight. Your job is to hold sight.

Parents make mistakes too. All the ones that are criticizing the dad act like they’re perfect humans. He probably feels so guilty already
