@c4news: Adult social care is "in a worst position than it was at the start of the latest pandemic" says Mike Padgham, Chair of the Independent Care Group. The Covid-19 inquiry looking at the impact on adult care services commenced today. More than 40,000 care home residents died with Covid in England and Wales between March 2020 and January 2022. #CareHome #Covid #Covid19 #Pandemic #CovidInquiry #UKNews #C4News #Channel4News
You're short of staff because it's underpaid and staff are over worked until they get I'll. Toxic managers and bullying workplace culture

PAY CARERS MORE!!! It’s quite simply that. I’ve worked in care. 14 hours shifts. No breaks. Offensive minimum wage. Getting beaten up, verbally abused, sexually assaulted and criticised the entire time. What were expected to do for pittance is OFFENSIVE. Pay. Us. More.

You get paid more to work in a warehouse than you do for looking after people and being responsible for their wellbeing. This country treats healthcare workers appallingly.

Underpaid, overworked, undervalued, toxic culture. Address all the issues instead of brushing them under the carpet then you may find you will get good staff with skills

Minimum wage , NVQ trained , plus constant training throughout the year , I work 12 hour shifts . Why would anyone want to become a carer now ! We are seen as unskilled workers! No respect

Because it's not a livable wage. So many people are applying for jobs but can't get one. The job market is paying shocking wages yet we're told we need to afford to rent or buy a house on minimum wage jobs it's mad

If the councils don’t pay the providers a fair amount then they can’t pay the staff the fair and right amount

Have you look on what you pay? Live in carers £11.60h legally even if minimum wage is £12.21. Nightshifts same rate as dayshift. Zero hour contracts. No sick pay. Paid only for actual visits and not the travel time. List go on. While care company charges double the clients.

Laughable how people talk so much about health and social care but completely IGNORE the conversation about wages.
