“Just move the fight” zod literally placed the world engine in metropolis to maximise casualties, then the bomber had to fly to metropolis to stop the world engine. Then zod shows up in the kryptonian shop superman can’t redirect it? It’s a fucking giant spaceship, he can either let zod destroy the bomber or he can destroy the space ship. One is the end of the world the other destroys chunks of metropolis. Nothing he can do. Then when superman and zod get into a hand to hand fight. One or two buildings are legitimately destroyed. But zod says at the start he’s going to kill everybody one by one. Zod is actively trying to keep the fight in the city. That’s literally his goal. What’s superman supposed to do against an equal adversary? “Yo zod, let’s fight this in an empty desert”. Like these critiques don’t make any sense if you watch the movie and if you understand zod. Like you need zod to be altruistic for any of this minimal casualties to work

I think a lot of people miss the real reason behind the MoS scene. It’s something he can save him from, yes but the point is that Clark is a god on earth without the knowledge of what comes with that. His father was trying to keep that burden off his shoulders as long as he could while still instilling principles that would make Clark the Superman we need.

People nowadays still dont know the meaning of the tornado scene? Its not about him being not able to save him, its a sacrifice of a father because he loves his son and dont want the world to treat him like a freak or a monster

Clark should have killed Zod way earlier before he realized his powers. He knew putting him through buildings and all that wouldn’t do anything to a Kryptonian. So why wait til you’ve destroyed half of Metropolis?

and you hit the nail on the head as to why cavills superman had no problem killing zod at all costs he didn't learn the lesson of he can't save everyone he learned a different lesson save everyone at any cost making cavills superman arrogant man of steel is a great movie it's not not a super hero comic book movie there's too much thought required compared to just a funny entertaining movie that the new one is

It's more interesting that he has to hide his powers and "can't save him" ... somethings can be different and make the story compelling not everything should be exactly like the comics it's a fine line but I don't think that makes a difference

Sorry Superman can’t stop and control a fight against someone much more powerful then him. And sorry he followed his Dads wishes because his father was afraid the world would never accept him. And he was right sorry Clark chose to he Superman and save and inspire people even tho he knew the world would hate him….

I can agree with the pa kent take 100% i just cant get behind “Superman could have geared the fight” just seems like a heat of battle thing someone may not be able to control if the enemy is trying his best to destroy said city 🤷🏻♂️
