For Study and Meditation:
Bible students have long seen a connection between the call of Revelation 14:7, “Worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea, and the springs of water,” and the Fourth Commandment, in Exodus 20:11, when the Sabbath again points out that “in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them.” Although the language is very closely related, there is a shift in the text of Revelation, which points to the Lord as the one who made “the springs of water.”
Author John Baldwin comments: “If we assume divine intent behind the phrase ‘springs of waters,’ why does Jesus have the messenger interrupt the parallel list of things mentioned in Exodus 20:11? Why does the angel mention ‘springs of waters’ and not some other kind of created thing, like trees, birds, fish, or mountains? The intent of the first angel’s message is for the reader to observe the difference between the solar system and the literal six-day creation of Genesis 1. This is why the Sabbath is the memorial of the Lord’s work of Creation.”
