I got really sick when I was a teenager, and to pass the time I got really into Mario cart Wii. Started playing ranked matches, started losing, and took it as a learning moment. I watched what the other drivers were doing, and learned to do it. Learned how the characters worked, how the items worked. Once I was healthy enough to spend time with friends again, they were horrified. I was not allowed to play anyone who was competitive because they’d lose their fucking minds by how badly I’d stomp them. Good memories :)

I thought I was good at rocket league and I 1v1 a guy ten times in a gaming bar and he beat me every single time and at the end I experienced ego death, accepted I cant objectively rate my skills and have never been the same since
