I once woke up under anesthesia and heard my ortho dr cuss out the surgical nurse. He didn’t believe me when I told him until I repeated what he said. He slid down the wall. I switched surgeons for my follow up surgeon

36 years as a scrub tech in the OR. This STILL happens ALOT. Management usually stands by the surgeon. They are the money makers, not the nursing staff.

He is located in Melbourne, Florida, and already had really bad reviews but of course social media warriors have gone and down a good deed calling him out on his heinous hubris ridden abuse. Apparently this is just how he is all the time and probably worse when no one is watching.

ER nurse, called into surgery middle of night to start an IV. Given a cold, dead, pale arm under a drape, no light. got a 20 in, second attempt. surgeon said, " a damn 2O, that's the best you can do, came from ER for that." anesthesiologist said, "at least we have one life saving IV, thank you" Maybe should have placed a central line before surgery? I am still mad at the disrespect.

The other side of the story is that the surgeon is very stressed because he has the ultimate responsibility to achieve the best possible outcome of the surgery. He has to deal with the long term results of the surgery, especially if there is a complication. The nurse gets to walk away care free without any responsibility or liability. He can’t do his job properly without working equipment and the patient is at risk. You can’t drive safely in a thunderstorm without functioning windshield wipers. I understand his frustrated behavior…

Don’t see a problem with this. He needed suction. Sounds like the nurse insisted the suction was working when it wasn’t which could be detrimental to the surgery. Boo hoo he said a naughty word.
