This incident happened on the anniversary of the Coeur d'Alene fire department burning down the former Aryan Nations compound in Hayden Lake, Idaho, in a training exercise on June 28-29, 2001. The compound had been lost by the Aryan Nations leader, Richard Butler, after being ordered to pay a $6.3 million lawsuit to a woman who had been shot by their security guards.
