There are always these types of employees in every industry. I’m a contractor and overhear passive aggressive comments by employees about their check and have to remind them they called in Monday, showed up late Wednesday and left 3 hours early Friday. They are lucky they even have a job still. LOL. Guys are making $57 an hour plus full union benefits on a mandatory PLA Job and whine like they are forced to be there.

It depends on the system, the advisors, the shop, the customer, and the bosses. At my shop. It takes them an hour to sell an engine air filter and that pays .2 so if I have a car oc and tr that is .5 but I wait an hour for them to sell that’s .7 so I lost .3 in the process. Most customers don’t buy, and my shop is slow with 40 appointments for main shop and lube for 10 hours the day. That is like 2 car a person 😂

I just quit a flatrate job. I don't like having to rely on other people for my paycheck. Parts guys making $9 an hour don't care about your paycheck.

Once you check a car out and you know waiting on parts and approval why not pull or push it outside and check another out ? I usally have 5+ ROs at a time waiting on parts and approval everyday

flat rate is amazing if your good at your job. at first you may be overworking and getting under payed but in the long run, there can be times where you get payed for 70 hours while working a solid 40

Flat rate is theft of techs and customers. Techs cut corners, most customers don’t know the shady work that’s done since they do not have a way to isp their car after repairs.

If you’re getting paid hourly the dealership is raking in more money from you than flat rate. I’ve worked both, and for the guys who hate it, I’d say find another shop. There are guys at ford dealers to Honda dealers making 170+ per year. If your a good tech working flat rate you should be making 100k if not find a new shop bc guys out there are doing it on the daily.

Send that oil change to the hourly boys. And lunch time is lunch time. Oil changes are not worth working through lunch or staying late.

It cracks me up that they send the hourly guys home when we are slow, but they don’t care that we are there making no money because they don’t have to pay us to sit there. I get very irritated about that. Anybody else experience that?
