I’m Muslim, and I’ll always show respect to others no matter what. But at the same time, I have to stay true to my religion and can’t promote something that goes against it. A good example is me - I don’t wear the hijab, and I know that’s a sin in Islam. I accept that, but I wouldn’t expect other Muslims to promote not wearing it either.

As Muslims, we respect everyone, but we don’t celebrate things that go against our beliefs like Christmas or Pride. Choosing not to say “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Pride” doesn’t mean we’re homophobic or hateful. It just means we’re staying true to our faith while still treating others with respect.

Im Muslim and lesbian and will always stand up for myself and other queer people. Hate and ignorance is dangerous for all of us, no discrimination.
How did our prophet treat queer people? He accepted them and was inviting and didn't treat us any differently. So who are we as a people now spreading hate and misinformation? We can't expect the world to respect us and treat us kindly when this is how we act. LGBTQ+ are ALWAYS the first to support and help us, remember that.

We can be Muslim or Christian and still be accepting of others! I am not sure why people have a hard time understanding this. You are amazing girl!

I understand that you have great experiences with them but we’re not supposed to celebrate them or accept them. We’re supposed to tolerate them. Am I saying that they should die or not have basic human rights? No, but in the QURAN, their way of life and being is wrong. So I get it but I don’t. Experiences and opinions shouldn’t have as equal weight as religious beliefs codified in the Quran.

Idk why some of the Muslim community get so bothered by gay/queer people. It’s their life and they’re free to live it as they choose. It’s not affecting us and it’s not our place to judge - Allah swt will judge us all accordingly. I also don’t get people disowning (or worse) their kids who come out as gay - their KIDS. I’d rather love my kid for who they are than lose them.

There is a big difference between respect and support. Yes, Islam does not teach us to judge people, BUT Allah has mentioned that if we CANNOT reprimand someone for disobeying orders, we MUST show hatred without insulting or simply just not showing love or support for the action. Just like we did for israel, express the hatred. It is as simple as that guys, come on. You are not judging or being disrespectful, you are just not supporting it. DO NOT manipulate Islam. May Allah protect our iman.

Girl yes ❤️🩹 as a Queer household in a Muslim neighborhood in Amsterdam, I wholeheartedly agree both ways. One time this muslim man told me “I don’t know about your lifestyles, but if someone ever harms you or your friends, come to us and we will help you”. We show up for them (& walk Palestine protests with them), they take care of us

The Prophet ﷺ made alliances with idol worshipping tribes i think we who aren't anywhere near the level of the Prophet ﷺ can at least make alliances with Queer people. we don't have to agree with all their views but that's why it's called an alliance not being part of the community itself. the 1000 people you lost may just be those who are ignorant and In shāʾ Allāh will be replaced with better.

Your clarification makes sense. It is possible to be empathic to people without celebrating their holidays (which may not be your intention with the well wishes, I get that), although to explain, for many Madinah U scholars it's not permissible to say "happy x" if it's not our Islamic holiday. e.g. no "happy Christmas" and other things. They recommended "happy holidays" to keep things vague
