It’s a fun read though lol just bear in mind he was 15 when he wrote it and had parents with a publishing company and the time and money to take him on book tours (which is how he got picked up by a big publisher). It’s not a terrible book for what it is lol I love it

The first dragon rider was an Elf named Eragon. first letter of Elf is E. Elf + Dragon = Eragon. very lazy. still funny. not an explored character at all which is crazy to me. Paolini really should have done a three part series of the first dragon rider quelling the elf and dragon war.

The Inheritance Cycle is why I don’t like Fourth Wing I think 😂. Read it when I was eleven and no other dragon book has compared

Brom was focused on keeping Eargon alive till they got to the Varden, they were being ruthlessly hunted by the Ra’zac who literally killed Brom in the end while hardly even trying. Eargon wouldn’t have lasted five minutes against them at that time. He need to be surrounded by his other proper teachers, meaning the elves. Which basically made a pact to ensure they got to him first to teach him. Eargon was also not physically strong enough to handle most basic spells and Saphire was not even big enough to carry two people in flight. So how in the heck do yall expect that limp noodle of a teenager version of Eargon to save the world? Did yall even read the books?

And the series repeatedly makes a big deal about never using magic without words to govern how it works and then ends with eragon doing exactly that and the big bad just blows himself up and everyone is fine

He was more concerned with immediate dangers and giving Eragon the skills and mindset he needed to survive right then and there.

I mean a lot of it comes down to magical thought stealing which eregon really doesn’t have much resistance to early on, telling him too much could compromise the info

Brom was always meant to be a part of Eragons training but he was mostly trying to get him to the varden, and thusly Oromis, alive so he could be fully trained. Remember Brom was not a fully trained rider himself when the order was destroyed

1- was there a specific piece of info you are referencing or like the entire history of brom or the magic? it seemed like u were hinting at 1 thing but there is so much brom knew.
2- brom was trying to get him somewhere safe first because erGon had his mind wide open for secrets to be stolen from. and if they couldn't outrun the enemies then his training/info would have been handed to the king in an easily corrupted youth just like murtagh.
3- the time he had with brom was short compared to the tons of time he spent training everywhere else. only so much info can be dumped on someone so young so quickly.
