Me and my wife (who is Armenian) live in LA and I love the idea of raising our kids in Armenia. The one thing we are worried about is war. It seems like tensions with all of Armenias surrounding neighbors are not good and they are all just looking for an excuse to invade. Second is if there is a war our kids being drafted. These two fears are what stop both of us from leaving because I would love our babies to be raised in this culture

We just came back from Yerevan! It's good for vacation, but not to live full time. The education system isn't the best, and the locals are pretty hard to blend with. Not our 1st trip. Every single time we go and hope it's better, it's not. As much as i'm happy you are representing our country in a beautiful light to the world, it's just not that good of a place as you paint it to be.

As someone who grew up in Armenia children were very much not considered “untouchable” I was bullied by teachers and my hands were hit with rulers for playing the piano wrong. It could have also been racism considered although I was a child I was not Armenian.

honestly, I live in Armenia, and I hate this place. I'm moving out soon but between blending with the locals, understanding the language, the rudeness of most people and the fact that everything looks really ramshackle, Armenia is just a nice place for a 2-3 days vacation, but never to base yourself in.

I'm so glad I came across your account. My husband and I have been struggling with the decision to move back to Armenia. Now that we're planning to have children, we just can't imagine raising them here in LA. The number of homeless and drug-addicted people is growing at an alarming rate. I don’t even feel safe myself anymore. Hopefully, we’ll also make the move and be able to build a life with the same work-life balance and safe, carefree childhood that we once had. Wish you good luck 😇

May I ask what kind of diaspora you come from? My friend is also Armenian American, but her grandparents are parskahye - upon living in Armenia for 3 months, they left for constantly being called “odars” and their child bullied for accent. We love Armenia but want to know if this is a thing

We are also in Armenia for almost 3 months, I grew up in Europe and now Im back for my kids to learn our language but its amazing here for esp for the kids and we could easily live here forever as a family

for those of us who grew up and lived there you all are wild to think its gonna be good longterm. this fam may be an exception. unless you got a business in USA youre not going to live a comfortable life. Oligarchs still run things around and get a pass on everything.

this is so real😭😭 because im terrified to ever send my baby to US school,because I don't even know if I'll see them after it. Armenia is so safe that kids walk alone without parents even at night
