I dunno why Americans call it the “Korean war, Iraq war” etc…. They should all be called invasions, because that’s what EVERY single “war” the US has been involved in is. An invasion.

Holy Propaganda buddy, not even close. North Koreans literally massacred hundreds of thousands of South Korean Civilians, as well as starting the war in the first place cause of their delusion of unifying Korea under the communist Kim Family Regime. They were definitely not the good guys. Even my great grandmother, who originally was born in North Korea., fled her hometown to the South during the war because that's how bad it got. Keep in mind she had just survived the Japanese as well. The reason why it's not talked about that much in US History classes is cause it technically never ended and is still a very active war today, with US-DPRK and US-Chinese relations on a short string cause of this. Same reason no one learns about the Iraq and basically any of the GWOT wars cause that's still going on today, and essentially nobody knows the whole story whereas it's very easy to learn all the sides of a war that already happened and the enemy was defeated and peace was achieved (ex. WW2, American Revolution, American Civil War etc.)

Hello, how are you my friend? Can you help my family by donating $50 to buy a small food basket for my family? Unfortunately, we are dying of hunger here because of the closure of the crossing and the lack of aid entering. I hope you can help me and I am sorry for asking for it. Forgive me. 🙏🥹

I was shocked when I learned the death count in the korean war was in the millions, they portray it as some small "forgotten" intervention, and honestly I think that the vietnam war only gets so much more attention because americans view it as a "corrupt" war with a narrative surrounding it that american citizens were victims rather than them actually caring about the mass human death and suffering

the reason the Phillipines is the only majority-Christian country in a majority-Muslim region is because the USA systematically exterminated Filipine Muslims. Mark Twain became an anti-racist anti-imperialist bc of what he witnessed there as one of the few journalists documenting the scale of the atrocities

I’m learning abt that part of history rn and all they’ve said was that they were over there for a bit and tried to “stop the spread of communism” but never said anything else

I had a conversation with an American recently where he claimed that the reason we don't get movies or games about the Korean war is because China controls what movies Hollywood makes and they don't want those movies to make China look bad 😂 Which is such an insane take considering the amount of pro US propaganda movies and games actually contain.

My grandpa was a POW in that war. He said he was treated better in the Chinese run camp by the Yalu River than he was by the USA when they picked him up. He was treated like a prisoner on the ship ride back, then given a train ticket to Arkansas. They did not bring him to the doctor or deworm him. Idk exactly how long he waited before getting to his first VA appointment. He was part of a group called "Tiger Survivors" if you want to look up some more stuff. He survived a 9 day long march where you were shot if you stopped for any reason.

I just read The Hidden History of The Korean War by I.F. Stone. The media advertised it as a surprise war but we already had ships docked in South Korea prior to the onset of the fighting to evacuate "innocents". We planned it! It was another one of our projects!!!

To be fair, South Koreans outside of Jeju Island only recently learned about what happened. Not because the U.S. covered it up, but because the South Korean government hid many of the atrocities they committed under the guise of “removing communists.”

I think part of it is because if it was taught from an objective perspective rather than an imperialist one, it wouldn’t be called the korean war, it would be called the korean g-cide

I mean, most USAns don't know about Hawaii either, or even mainland North American colonization. Asking them to know about NK is expecring too much. (It's their responsibility to learn about it tho and unlearn the propaganda.)

i didn’t know the korean war existed until i was 12 or 13. never brought up in school, no adults mentioned it, i knew that north and south korea existed and that was that. same with malcom x, but i didn’t know he existed. a complete failure on the parts of the adults in my life, none of them bothered to talk about very basic american history. probably because they were ashamed.
