I love yalls theories abt this but hear out mine: most of us ask ultra specific questions, usually abt details that no one cares about, and when the person doesn't really see the value of that info it's seen as questioning (dominance tactic), they think we are challenging them out of nowhere, feel out of place, and try to pay that back making us feel inadequate, it's never abt the question itself. sorry 4 english

i was hanging out with a group of college people and they were talking about how cool the lichen was on the trees cause thats not a thing where they were, so i added to the conversation that theres a cool kind of mushroom that grows on them too and the conversation died there

They one thousand percent do this to gaslight you bc its fun for them. I learned how to mask really well and the same ppl who used to do that stopped. once someone tried it and I responded to her the way a NT would (disgust and shock) and she APOLOGIZED and said, I'm sorry, I thought you might have been a weirdo. it's intentional. they do it to regulate themselves bc they feel insecure.
