Public servants and politicians shouldn’t be getting paid that sort of salary, they already get perks eg transport, food, travel accommodation supp and many others, put them on a minimum wage!

I think you are misunderstanding what hes saying, cops are moving to Australia because they’re government are able to pay their staff more, however cops are moving back because they realise they miss NZ or miss aspects of NZ police that are unrelated to money. Also how does the commissioner of police and the economy of NZ have any similarity, he’s not a council man? 🤷‍♂️

To be honest I never joined the Police because I wanted to get rich. There are jobs out there that pay a lot more with less risk. The calling to serve families and protect the vulnerable is something people who sign up will only understand. Money isn’t everything.

I got a one-way ticket to Perth from wellington in 2004. Spent 5yrs in Perth....Loved it. I came back because of health problems. I had nice bikes and a Brand New XR6 Ute in the driveway. I don't have that now

So you’re saying every week this man is paid $12k a week, every week, $12k, in the hand? So 1st off, yes, you want Police paid so that corruption isn’t a factor. Second, it isn’t everything, there is a lot of cache in saying you’re a Policeman in NZ. As for the people struggling to pay bills, that’s why we have you, to offer alternate ways that we can become more prosperous.
