Hilarion did nothing wrong. This story is one of the ballets included in the anime Princess Tutu, a magical girl show for kids where mutual understanding is reached by dancing. The episode is fairly creepy because of this Wili Maiden "promising the bridal bouquet of Giselle" to a prince character, basically compelling him to take her hand to dance and die. And it's very cool because, obviously, don't explain THIS story to the audience of children, but when other characters realize what's going on and Rue (the antagonist!) realizes that Giselle's bouquet is made of rosemary, she shouts "DON'T ACCEPT THAT BOUQUET, YOU WILL PERISH AND BE BOUND TO THE WORLD OF DEAD!" And I'm just... delighted. They introduce children to culture, but have the sense to avoid the more gruesome parts of this story in respect to their childhood, while at the same time encouraging enough interest to look it up for themselves later if they so desire. Kinda like all fairytales!
