This song is so so so dear to my soul. Not only because it's by my bias Jin, or because of the hauntingly beautiful melody and his emotional heartwrenching heavenly voice, but also the incredibly profound and meaningful lyrics he wrote here. This song is basically about Jin's depression and severe impostor syndrome that he felt back in 2020, but he uniquely depicted it from a different angle with these lyrics. Instead of approaching it with a negative view that tears himswlf down, he made it positive and hopeful. He's honest about his own feelings of emptiness, not feeling good enough, or even lacking purpose in life, using the metaphore of falling into the abyss for it. But at the same time he's refusing to hate himself for that. Instead, the lyrics depicts how he tries to "get to know himself" all over again, as if he was taking himself as a friend. Using the metaphore of the deep blue sea to show his complex inner layers of personality that may look scary from the outside, but is actually so beautiful within if he explored it patiently. Thus, he's choosing to dive into his own sea, as if he's asking himself "What's wrong? Let's disect all of this together", trying to solve the problem from the core, to make everything better again eventually. This song is part of his attempt to make peace with himself. It's like patting yourself in the back, and telling yourslef "It's okay to feel this way now, but this too shall pass. You got this, I love you". Jin showed me through this song that I don't need somebody else to fix me or befriend me, I can fix and befirend myself.
