We are nowhere near, or even remotely approaching, AGI; we have increasing scope of applications for LLMs. That’s big but that’s it. It is being, and increasingly will be, transformative. The idea that llms are “smart” in any traditional sense of the word is just wrong. They cannot understand anything beyond their training data. No abstract thought whatsoever. Can’t solve basic puzzles that don’t exist on the internet because it’s not capable of real intelligence yet. Design your models to think, don’t make them static nets.
