If you want to try truly authentic Korean barchan (side dish) and delicacies, we highly recommend getting from Kevin’s Choice (awesome Korean owned family biz) We’ve been enjoying their products since my sister discovered them through the Korean mom’s association fundraising sale at my niece’s school. They source products directly from the best restaurants and manufactures from specific regions in Korea which the products are native to and bring them in the freshest state. I love H mart for a lot of things but their frozen seafood products and prepared foods are often not very fresh or lack quality. Specifically if you want try delicacies like marinated crabs or pollock roes, Kevin’s Choice really has the highest quality stuff. Also, Korean broth and barchan staples like dried anchovies or squids are super high quality. These Korean seafood dishes we tried in the video are considered delicacies in Korea. Even in Korea you can get high quality stuff in only certain regions by the sea. If you are not used to raw seafood, it may be an acquired taste. The rice cake is made from sweet rice mixed with mugworts (Korean mountain greens) powder. The texture is soft and chewy, somewhat like mochi but denser and firmer. It’s a perfect dish to make when you have old kimchi in your fridge and you feel lazy to cook anything complicated. I had tons of scallions in the fridge. So I also made some scallion pancakes.
