Namgyu did NOT hate thanos he was upset because the person closest to him had just died and throughout their close relationship he was upset that thanos made him feel inferior and wouldn’t pay attention to him all the time, that upset him along with thanos calling him “namsu” all the time, it upset him making him feel not as important. When thanos died the first thing he did was kill semi and he started to lose it, most likely experiencing the stages of grief. When thanos was gone namgyus hair is no longer kept neat and he is constantly imitating thanos. he constantly begins to claim that he hated thanos trying to convince himself that he doesn’t miss thanos, and that he hated him, but namgyu not being able to believe it repeats this over and over and even chooses to team up with 333 who of which they both hated for being the reason they lost their money. This is him trying to find someone to team up with because he know he won’t be able to get through the games by himself without thanos by his side, 333 just fit the ideal of what he was trying to convince himself of. When namgyu begins to constantly bring up thanos and imitate him it becomes clear that this is him trying to cope with thanos death. If he truly did not miss thanos and truly hated him then namgyu would not be mentioning him and imitating him. When namgyu begins taking more than one pill this can be seen as him taking one for himself and another for thanos (end of season 2, he is visually devastated and this is right after thanos death). Not only that but it is known that they go way back before the games, with thanos and namgyu even meeting at a club (club pentagon), with namgyu even giving thanos free drinks, making his death hurt even more knowing that they knew each other before the games. This information supposedly makes the death a lot harder and worse on namgyu, but being in the games and having misogynistic views he won’t let himself fall apart and seem “weak” or as “less of a man” this is another reason as he is shown to try to convince himself that he doesn’t care that he saw thanos die and had to take the cross from his dead body. 1/2

What hurts the most is knowing that Nam-gyu really cared that Thanos learned his name because he admired him and maybe even loved him but he could never hear him say his name correctly and that when he thanked 333 for killing him he was actually trying to imitate how Thanos would act if he killed 333😭😭

Also, the fact that Nam-gyu kept Thanos's necklace not only for the pills, but also because it was the only thing he had left of his best friend, is significant. He slept in Thanos's bed after he was eliminated, and he kept the fork that eliminated Thanos so he could eliminate other players the way his friend was.
