Just a wee thing, I find the cling film isn’t necessary. I always have a small dish with balsamic or sweetened vinegar and just a tiny drop of washing up liquid as that’s what breaks the surface tension, they land and can’t fly away 😊

indonit without the cling film, the dishwasher soap (you need just a drop) changes the surface tension of the water and makes them drown. half a glass of rosé or white wine you weren't going to finish does the trick even better

Another hack if you have a fruit bowl and don’t want fruit flies in the summer then put some corks under the fruit they absorb any moisture and stop the flies x

Literally take the rubbish out regularly/don’t leave out any fruit and poor boiling water down the sink twice a day and they are gone an a few days.
