I understand what you mean and agree a lot of people don't critically think for real but I would also like to note the sentiment you're putting forward that "there is always a deeper meaning" is also used to harass, assault or infantalize autistic people because people assume there must be a deeper meaning to what we are saying, or if they are on the other end they assume we are unable to critically think and treat us like children because we often just say things directly instead of putting the meaning behind symbolism

Yes! We discussed this in my philosophy through film class this year. My white professor had an entire presentation on how this type of thinking and perception of film is usually inherit to Black women and the consequences of when it’s not (rejecting blackness)

Yes things are deep I love analyzing media and then thinking but then again majority of the time people literally just be talking saying anything and losing the line between what we actually watching and it turns into something it’s not love island is a great example of that how viewers kinda messed up the general experience on how they lost the plot of the show and the people on there and ways they treat them
