for all the basil haters in this comment section i agree with some things you say yes basil is not a good person he doesnt have good morals and his actions led to big disasters but we need to acknowledge that basil wasnt meant to be a good person at the first place he is a morally complex character with his ups and mostly downs he is not just a "good" or a "bad" person the first thing we should look in basil's character is that he lacks at showing his emotions and what he really thinks its implied in the game that basil was an unwanted child by his parents and didnt have friends growing up so it would be normal if he was scared of being a burden to his friends if he had any but eventually he meets sunny and his friend group thanks to aubrey basil quickly gets along with everyone and being good friends with all of them even tho now he has friends he still had problems from the past that were never solved by no one so he was still really anxious and scared of making people get tired of him and not want him going a bit forward basil eventually suggested that they should all save money to buy sunny a new violin after seeing sunny playing with his old and little violin everyone agrees and buys sunny a new violin on christmas but there is just one problem sunny never wanted a new violin he doesnt want to play the violin anymore but he couldnt say it because his friends and his best friend basil had put so much time and effort on this gift so he just goes along with it even tho he doesnt want to eventually sunny and mari starts playing together since mari plays the piano and mari suggests that they should do a recital and sunny couldnt let his sister down because she seems so happy that they are spending time together and playing instruments together so they start working but eventually what started as just something to spend time turns into a real hard work which they both had to work really hard to get better at and sunny slowly starts to get sick off all of this he doesnt want to play the violin doesnt want to work anymore he is sick of his sister's perfectionist behavior and so the recital day comes++
