For anyone wondering, I searched : it is caused by the consumption of Rhizoctonia leguminicola, a fungus infecting vegetables, including clover. When eaten in large amounts, especially when the fungus proliferates (humidity helps), a mycotoxin is released and the horse will slobber a few days after ingestion. It is not dangerous, as long as the horse stops consuming infected plants, and has access to enough water to avoid dehydration.

Advice from a farrier- your horse needs to be brought up. Heals are too low and toes are too long, this causes a broken back axis (misaligned hoof and pastern).

This literally scared the 💩 out of me when I first saw this with my Paint. My first horse, first drooling episode and I was about to call my vet and panic about my horse being neurologic. Then my trainer walked down the aisle and said he ate too much clover…what happened to being proactive vs reactive, let a girl know that’s even a possibility 🤪
