I found the only thing good about Duolingo is that it teaches you vocabulary but it fails miserably in teaching you how to put that vocabulary to use!

I dislike the fact that a lot of these learning apps have a pay wall behind them. It is pretty restrictive for people who cannot afford this luxury so to speak. I guess that I'll have to learn german the hard way

I’m a French-Canadian and I’ve been learning German for almost two years now. I’d say I’m somewhere between B1 and B2. I understand and read fairly well, but speaking is still really challenging for me and I feel like I’ve hit a plateau. I’m studying filmmaking, and I have an internship in Berlin this fall. I know most people there will speak English, but I really want to be able to communicate in German at least enough to have functional conversations. Right now, I write a daily diary in German every morning. I use ChatGPT to correct my mistakes, especially grammar, and then I read the corrected version out loud. It helps but I still struggle a lot with grammar, especially prepositions and da-compounds like damit, daran, etc. I’m just not sure where to focus at this point. My goal is to speak clear, everyday German not perfect but good enough to function and feel comfortable. If you have any tips for how I could make the most of the next two months, I’d really appreciate
