NGL I used to use this as a litmus test when I got a new friend or started dating someone. Early in meeting the person tell them I don’t like being called (fill in the blank) or I don’t like bringing up (random fact from past) or this word makes my skin crawl (random word). Tell them this fact 1-3 times within the first few months of meeting them and just sit and wait. I choose something random that I don’t even care about just to see what they do. Crazy work but an easy way to see true colors. If they never use it ✅ if they weaponize it 🚮

I hate that word too. My mom used to call me that growing up and it hurts my inner child. Which is why I don’t tell anyone I hate being called that. But it’s a good experiment to check if your person hates you. Trying it may send me into a black hole though, I fear.

There’s a term for this. You set a boundary around a pet peeve (or something else that’s annoying to you, nothing deep or traumatic) and then they violate that boundary the first time there’s conflict.
