wasn’t it your church that excluded the Apocrypha from the canon for nearly 1500 years? Jerome (Doctor of the Church), who translated the Latin Vulgate at the pope’s request, explicitly rejected those books as non-canonical. Athanasius (Doctor of the Church, Saint, Bishop of Alexandria), gave a canon list that excluded them. Cyril of Jerusalem (Doctor of the Church, Saint, Bishop), warned catechumens not to read them. Rufinus (recognized Church theologian), openly denied their inspiration. All of these men are honored by your church—but for roughly 75% of its history, their view was tolerated and even normative. It wasn’t until the 1500s at Trent—after the Reformation—that your church reversed itself and declared these disputed books infallibly canonical. So if someone broke with historical tradition, it wasn’t the Reformers.

the “40,000+” number is exaggerated, it includes cultural things like (Baptist churches in different countries). independent but nearly identical churches, minor administrative or practical differences, not doctrinal ones, most of these groups agree on the core gospel truths (Jesus is God, salvation by grace through faith, etc.) Jesus’ Church is not an institution lol, it’s a mass worldwide following of Jesus Christ. many groups add human tradition, personal visions, or false teaching (prosperity gospel, and cults). and others interpret Scripture irresponsibly, twisting verses (2 Peter 3:16) the existence of 40,000 denominations is not due to Sola Scriptura, it’s because of human pride and sin. Acts 17:11 the Bereans were called noble because they examined the Scriptures daily to test Paul’s teachings. Matthew 22:29 Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, saying, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God”

Protestants, since most of you believe in sola scriptura, in the gospels the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and said “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you” and if Mary is said to be full of grace, that means that there was no room in here to have sin, making her sinless.

We need to realize that we can’t just group every denomination that’s not Catholic as “Protestant”. I know the source of what you are referring to. The 40,000 figure actually represents different entities across all Christian denominations worldwide. Back to my first point, not every denomination outside of the Catholic Church is Protestant. To be Protestant, it would have to stem from the Protestant reformation. If we’re actually talking about denominations that were truly Protestant, there is about 7.
