best writing advice I was ever given is this: you can't fix a blank page! perfectionism may keep you from telling the story, it will bog you down before you even get started. there's a time for the inner editor, but the first draft is not that time😁

I'm a bit of both but definitely a perfectionist 🙏 I've gotta get a scene done at all costs before moving to the next but if it's not to my liking I'll go back and work on it

I'm a perfectionist by default, but perfectionism is inherently unproductive so I try to keep it in check

im definitely a perfectionist. although thats just because I hate doing things multiple times, so I get the editing done as I write. write a section, stop, go back a reread what I have written, edit, continue

I write it sloppy on purpose. if I have an elaborate idea and I'm afraid I'll lose it I write it in as few words as possible.

I'm a perfectionist writer and I've always known about it. Though it has hindered all of my writing work.

is there a cross between them? because I start out as a perfectionist, but at some point I come up with a new better idea and start revising until I'm too deep and have to keep revising or scrap it and start from scratch with the same story but as a reviser or never complete it 😭😭

The second style is the better way to write in a lot of ways—many creative writing classes will tell you this. Get all your ideas down, and then go back and revise later. One thing I use is if I don’t know exactly what word I want to place somewhere I’ll just write “elephant” and come back to it later. I got my projects finished much faster and of much higher quality this way. Writing already requires you to revise multiple times. If you think it’s perfect on the first try, it’s probably garbage.

Reviser. I brain dump the entire scene and come back to it the next day to tweak, etc before writing the next scene 🥰

I tried to be a perfectionist, and it got me nowhere. Revisionist all the way.

i am a reviser. I tried the perfectionist route and got literally nothing done. now, I can get all the sludge out of my head and shape it into something decent.

Definitely both! I consider my sloppy drafts “outlines” until something forms and then I revise until perfection 😂

I'm still a bit of a perfectionist, but I've adopted the revising type over time

Definitely a reviser. Hemingway said “write drunk, edit sober” (he didn’t, but still)
