This guy was AWESOME 💎 PS Pure human goodness at 0:52 🔊 I met Maxwell in New Westminster. Bright orange hair. Face tattoos. Piercings. He looked rather serious crossing the street; but something told me he was approachable… and boy was I right. As soon as I asked for a photo, he smiled and said yes without a second thought. @maxvautourmusic is a musician. His band is @king.vulture.music.

“Think Nine Inch Nails but slower and more melodic.” He said Mechanical Animals by Marilyn Manson made him want to get into music. Now, he just wants to make art that moves people. What I loved about this interaction is the stranger at 0:52 that leaned over and told him he looked “fabulous”. I’m not sure who that lady was, but she is an absolute gem of a human 💎 When I asked if people treat him differently because of his tattoos, he said, “100 percent.” Strangers stare. People constantly ask questions. “I didn’t get face tattoos to get talked to more,” he told me. “But people always come up and ask me about them. Go figure.” 😂 Maxwell is a man of contrast. Badass exterior, but soft-spoken, and unbelievably warm on the inside. “My favorite part is the juxtaposition,” he said. “That I’m like this, but also this.” So I tried to capture that juxtaposition in the photos. Half showing his badass side. Half showing his funny, kind, fun loving side. Kayaking, festivals, events, fireworks. It’s been beautiful. And while the reset has been nice, I realized today that I couldn’t wait to get back on here and share more stories of the people I’ve been meeting. I love this city. I love these people.
