captions in comics being used like J-cuts in TV is so cool!! i’d never thought about it that way but that Batman panel just made it click

You know - I just realized that thought bubbles were replaced by narration. I’m not using thought bubbles.

I’ve often wkndered just how much freedom the artist has when you write the script. Do you like to give long detailed descriptions of what a character is doing or is it better to just give a simple prompt explaining what’s going on and let the artist do as they please?

But is your scripting what everyone does? I read prelude to future past today and it included some excerpts from Claremont’s days of future past script and his format is different to yours. Just genuinely curious.

After reading a bunch of early Marvel comics, it’s so interesting to see the shifts in speech and narration methods (RIP thought bubbles)

French has a word for speech bubbles, it’s ‘Phylactère’! I learned that because a local graphic novel store went by that name. (And in looking it up I just found out english has the term too, Phylactery!)

I have a question re speech bubbles. Earth-65 characters have the bar coming off the bubble while 616 typically used the usual arrow. Did you ever have a conversation about bubble style in Ghost Spider or is that specific decision out of your hands?

Is there a reason why comics moved away from thought balloons to boxes? It feels like there's less room with boxes.
