in Iliad ,the protagonist is Hector .Homer shows greeks as the savages and the ambitious warriors even though they are on the right side(because Paris stole Helen from Menelaus) ,but for example Hector is supposed to be the virtue of a : warrior,prince ,husband ,man against Achilles who is beautiful, he is a demigod, a skilled warrior , ambitious, seeks for glory, violent and quick-tempered.

24 whole pages with small text before the iliad actually begins. in the book i’m reading those 24 pages are spent talking about the deeper meanings and artistic choices made by homer and how they translated it and interpreted it and it was cool to read and i love the interpretation but by the time i made it to the actual story i put the book down and decided to read it later 😭

Honestly I thought it was the other way around, before I started the illiad, I expected the illiad to cover the entire trojan war but instead it was like a month of the final year of the trojan war. 😭🙏
