@blumineck: I enjoy @Sellsword Arts as much as the next man, but I have to stand up for my pointy stick launchers! #archer #archery #nerd #fantasy #history #factcheck
This makes sense! Absolutely what we expected if we had arrow heads designed for combat!
Thanks for testing it for us!

saw it mentioned, but without a full explanation. samurai wore cloaks to deflect arrows, but it was specifically for when they were riding away, so the cloak would billow out behind them. it wasn't meant to stop an arrow like armor, it was meant to push the arrow off course, like creating a glancing blow off a parachute

Crassius purchased his legions silk covers for their shields to protect against Scythian arrows penetrating them. Scythians were notorious for poisoning their arrows too which probably helped drive his purchases. Didn't save him and those legionaries in the end though lmao

I love the back and forth between creators when information is given, then added to and explained on a deeper level.

they would throw cloth over armor, in tests it made the metal much more secure against arrows compared to just exposed metal

If you have the reaction time to put your cloak infront of an arrow coule you technically also move the cloak into an upwards motion instead of just holding it infront of you or would that not work

Now this is the kind of information I expect in a video that is trying to debunk or disprove certain theories. He gives different scenarios and ways that a cloth could stop and arrow but also mentions how a cloth couldn't stop an arrow. Amazingly well done 👏

in gaucho fencing the ponchos Are used somewhat like shields, this didn't surprise me that much! i understand it'd be pretty dangerous to try out, but i wonder if the proper motion could help out in deflecting.

Mostly correct but modern hunting compounds shoot a lot faster than medieval longbows, draw weight is only one factor for arrow fps, limb speed is more important, this is why we have fiberglass limbs and not spring steel.
