The fact that Schmidt’s works better than French deodorant is all I needed to hear, because I tried using Schmidt’s for a while and was soooo smelly.

European deodorants are legally forbidden to use some chemicals (because they’re toxic) that are used in the states thus the deodorant do not work as well as in the US

I think the difference in cuisine can affect smell and the fact most European countries avoid using too many chemicals. I’d rather be stinky than coated in unknown ingredients tbh.

In high school we had a French exchange student for a year. The soccer coach ended up having to talk to him about getting a good deodorant because the other high school boys were complaining about it. When high school boys are saying that it's too much you know there's a problem. 😂

As a Norwegian I was shocked the first time I went to France , the smell of sweat was so intense, I had never smelled anything like that. We Are following the same rules as the EU when it comes to deodorant here in Norway , and we do not smell like sweat here🤷🏼♀️

France is pretty multicultural especially in Paris. There are lots of recent immigrants who are simply not deodorant users. I had the same experience in the US. Over time in both places they figure things out.

the origin of the stéréotype is not about déodorant issues 🤣 it goes back to the royalty times where people used to take a bath once a year and thats why France us famous for perfumes coz they were stinking soooo bad they needed to put tons of perfumes... mistresses of king louis XYZ ( i dont remember which king) were fainting before having segz with him coz he was so stinky that it was unbearable when he took off his clothes full of perfume 🤣

it's not a stereotype it's a fact we've been nasty as hell since the medieval times, the cleanest places in Europe are the Celtic nations and Estonia, because they weren't scared of baths, infact other countries would know they were about to be colonized before they even saw the boat because they could spell them😭

Literally before going to Paris, everyone warned me about how much Paris smells! The people, the city, etc🥺 since I came during the winter I didn’t have that experience but I’m sure during the summer it’s a different experience! Crazy how different the quality of the deodorants are 🤯
