Apparently when the movie came out Route 66 people got excited thinking they’d get an influx of visitors and did a bunch of renovation and made welcome signs only for no one at all to show

Yeah, I’d much rather fly on the interstate than stop and go through 50 small towns😂

I just rewatched it, I think it’s about even more, specifically the collapse and dilapidation of rural America and the middle class 😁

I grew up in New Mexico. My Main Street was the historic Route 66, so I am literally from that small town.. this movie means a lot to me even to this day.

My understanding having grown up in the south and poor, it was best to avoid Route 66 b/c it’s rife with sundown towns and poor counties with money hungry sheriffs.

Route 66 definitely has a lot of entertainment but unfortunately a lot of it was based on mocking native Americans and their culture. kinda icky tbh

guys it does still exist😭 people still make the trip EVERYDAY!! Everyday there is someone new in town taking a picture with the gemini giant! Its pretty cool! A lot of it has been renamed/ grouped in with other streets but it still is a continuous highway!! Take the trip some day! You will drive right through my hometown!

The movie is just twisted. The lead character is into cannibalism. He lives in a graveyard with bodies not buried. Cutting parts off when needed. What is Disney promoting.

I’ve only lived in Route 66 cities (Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Chicago). You can still drive on the historic road just not from city to city
