my theory is that the writers just want to make a cool blade movie but the MCU people have no idea how to explain vampires or why they haven't been a bigger issue until now and it's ruining the development as they keep intervening to make it fit

Probably not in the time period they were making the movie in. If costumes were sold during sinners, the movie was probably in the same time frame. They will (hopefully) make one but in a different time frame
