Wow, just learned what “bathroom camping is” it is a trauma response to only feeling safe in the bathroom. In a lot of houses that is the only room that locks and also people have privacy.

I am no longer going to be frustrated that my tween daughter never shuts the bathroom door cause then she can’t talk to me while she goes to the bathroom or showers. She is the opposite of camping. I worked hard to make sure she never needed a place to camp!

No bc, my bathroom was connected to my room. So when my parents would fight, I’d run into my bathroom cus no one would yell or hit me in there. Now as as adult. When the baby is overstimulating me, I end up in the bathroom. When I get home and am stressed out by how much I have to do, bathroom.

When I’m having a panic attack or my anxiety is really bad, i go into my bathroom and just sit on the floor in the corner. Thank god this is normal

The bathroom was my fav place as a kid🥺 only place I could cry and lock the door to feel safe (we weren’t allowed to lock our bedroom doors).💔

I used to lock myself in my bathroom.. in childhood & until I was 25 years old. Bring the snacks, the drinks, the music. Turned out to be a trauma response in my case. My current husband helped me heal. No more bathroom camping for me. 🫶🏼💕
