no this is so real, my former friend is a trans woman from small town oklahoma and she made constant shia muslim references, her second favorite anime is I Fell in Love with a Villainess(?), and she called me in tears and needing emotional support the day assad fled syria

i think in part the pipeline among nerdy guys & anime freaks started w/ allah syria & bashar blowing up on far right partisan music youtube channels and the subsequent association of assad being 'based' (almost every fascist is into anime for some reason so it also spread outside of the specifcally far-right corners via osmosis)
