When I was living in Tahoe I was working at the health food bakery. I wa health minded but also a bit on the dark side. The baker was a hatha yoga instructor from Hawaii and author of a popular 70’s instruction manual. One time I was showing him the pose I created for my daily routine. As I described it Dragons pose was very close to a sun salutation with a lions pose mixed in. My twist was that I did it with a lit unfiltered camel straight poised between my lips. I would take deep breaths as I moved through the progression and exhaled voluminous amounts of smoke from the depths of my. It was a very powerful pose to me and I asked my teacher what Iyengar would think. He just smiled and said that I probably was the first as well as the only.

Growing up my mother grew hundreds of roses in her garden, she was very particular about how to tend them and I was scolded & shamed when I did it wrong. Consequently I grew to hate roses & what they represented for me.
